So I took the plunge and popped the case off and sure enough the same little fan was stuck and covered with dust. Then I ran up on this video and thought what the heck. Everything I've read has said the repair price is so high on these issues that it is better to upgrade to a new projector so I resigned myself to doing that very thing. Optoma asked me $125 just to take a look at my out of warranty hd20 projector after I started getting the dreaded "fan failure" error message, I got this error mesage after replacing the bulb (its important to note that the bulb did explode in the unit so some of the debris may have lodged in the fan.) Optoma also kept saying stuff like motherboard issues and fan sensors on the phone. ![]() ![]() I put this here because when I was experiencing the same issue I found there was very little info online for this topic. Plugged it back in and I'm experiencing glorious 135" hd once again. I gently moved it with a screw driver and blew all the dust out of it. ![]()
